FAWCO Target – Health Project Nomination. As an organization, FAWCO pools the resources of its member clubs to focus on one philanthropic cause for a 3 year cycle of education, awareness, advocacy and fundraising. At this time, clubs and individuals may nominate a health project anywhere in the world to be the next Target Health Project. Go here for details on the nomination process.
4 Pillars of global issues in FAWCO follow the priorities of United Nations Women. They are: health, education, environment and human rights. Plus we have a focus on US issues that affect Americans overseas. AWC Berlin’s own Karen Castellon co-chairs the FAWCO Human Rights team, serving as a vehicle to share ideas among member clubs, educate and advocate on relevant issues, and increase involvement on campaigns such as 16 Days of Ending Violence Against Women, Nov. 25-Dec. 10; One Billion Rising-Feb. 14; International Women’s Day-March 8, World Refugee Day-June 20. What can you do? We would like to increase the AWC Berlin participation in FAWCO. If you are interested in chairing a campaign for AWC-Berlin, your ideas & teaming are welcome. If you would like to learn more about what women in the other 61 clubs are doing in any of these 4 areas, we can refer you to the team chairpersons. Either way, your world will only become larger and richer as you meet amazing individuals who are just doing their part in the world.
FAWCO Region 5 Meeting (German and Austria) is in Leipzig on November 15-17, 2019. All AWC Berlin members are invited to attend and learn more about FAWCO and strengthening our club through engagement and partnerships.
FAWCO 2020 Interim Meeting for clubs worldwide is March 2020 in Luxembourg. All members are invited to attend.
United Nations fans: Consider attending the 64th Commission on the Status of Women in New York City, March 9-20, 2020. It is the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. It is also the 5th anniversary of the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030. Information here.
