Who We Are
Founded in 1894, the American Women’s Club of Berlin (AWC Berlin) is a welcoming, English-speaking community for international women living in Berlin. We bring together women from more than 30 nationalities who share the American spirit — a can-do attitude, a love of learning, and a drive to make a difference while having fun along the way.
What We Do
At AWC Berlin, we believe community is essential to thriving overseas. Our members enjoy social, cultural, educational, and service activities that enrich the lives of international families in Berlin and foster understanding of our host country. From casual get-togethers to professional workshops and cultural outings, our events help members connect, learn, and grow together while making Berlin feel like home.
Giving back is at the heart of who we are. Every two years, our members nominate and vote on a Berlin-based charity that supports women and girls. The selected organization becomes the focus of our fundraising, volunteering, and in-kind donation efforts for that cycle.
We also maintain a long-standing partnership with Ronald McDonald House Berlin, which we’ve proudly supported since 2004.
Relocating to Berlin can be exciting and challenging. To make the transition easier, we’ve curated a trusted set of English-speaking resources — from relocation and housing to schools, family life, and U.S. voting and taxation. Whether you’re planning your move or already settling in, our network ensures you’re never navigating it alone.
AWC Berlin is a proud founding member of FAWCO, a global federation of independent women’s clubs and associations representing more than 12,000 members in nearly 35 countries. Through FAWCO, our members connect with peers worldwide, collaborate on shared causes, and contribute to projects that empower women and improve lives around the globe.
